 ISM2006

Demo proposal submission deadline extended to Sept. 20!

Call for Demonstration Proposals

Proposals are invited for demonstrations on latest cutting edge technologies relevant to IEEE ISM2006. We solicit demo proposals on emerging and innovative technologies that have potential commercial application, new applications and techniques, research demonstrations, recent research/implementation results, R&D challenges, practical implementations, and interesting future product ideas. ISM2006 would like to invite researchers and developers from academic, industrial, and government laboratories to present their novel ideas, including works in progress and results that do not warrant a full technical paper, at ISM2006 demonstration sessions. ISM2006 demo sessions intend to provide an exciting forum for researchers, developers, and entrepreneurs to present and discuss new applications and ideas. Proposals will be evaluated based on their potential to stimulate interesting discussions.

To exchange ideas and to obtain feedback from expert users, the demonstrations will be arranged at a dedicated 'interactive/networking' session time slot with food/drinks where all the participants may attend without missing any conference session.

Submission requirements:

Submissions must be in English and at most two pages in IEEE proceeding style (double-columned pages) including references and figures. The demonstration summary will appear in the conference proceedings. The proposal should briefly describe

  • The author info including author names, affiliations, and contact information,
  • the type of the demonstration (prototype, simulation result, or poster presentation),
  • the summary of the novel characteristics of the demonstration and the significance of the contribution to multimedia technology, applications, or systems,
  • a short description of the demonstrated system, (this may include the system setup and major components of the system,)
  • comparisons with relevant systems (especially for simulation results,)
  • the properties of data set (i.e., the type of data set and data set generation,)
  • the hardware, software and network access requirements for the system,
  • (for prototype demonstration) information on how the systems will be demonstrated at the conference,
  • (for prototype demonstration) the list of functions and features that are going to be demonstrated, and
  • the relevant references.

Moreover, the authors are encouraged to provide additional access or information on their demonstrations by providing a link to website containing

  • a recorded demonstration,
  • an executable version of the demonstration with the necessary instructions, or
  • a detailed illustration of the demonstration with screenshots.
