IEEE International Symposium on Multimedia (ISM 2006)

Special Track on

Adaptive Video Streaming over Networks

December 11-13, 2006
Paradise Point Resort & Spa, San Diego, California, USA

Special Track Abstract:

Modern multimedia communication applications such as mobile television, movie on demand, distributed video conferencing, streaming and gaming over wired and wireless networks have stimulated research for new technologies in the area of multimedia architectures, processing, and networking. Current communications networks, which consist of channels with various throughputs, quality of services (QoS), and protocols, and heterogeneous terminals with wide range of capabilities, accessibilities, and user preferences, have escalated the need for efficient and effective techniques for streaming and adapting compressed videos in such heterogeneous environments.  Considerable amounts of research and development activities in industry and academia have been devoted to answering the many challenges in making better use of video content across systems and applications of various kinds. The special track will include overview papers as well as previously unpublished research in this area.
